| 1994 - New World Makati Hotel - Makati, Philippines (HK$550m) |
| The New World Makati Hotel is a 29-storey
R.C. structure consists of 3 levels of basement, 4 levels
of podium and a 22-storey hotel tower block. Total site
area covers about 8,000m² . Construction of the New World Makati Hotel commenced in late 1989. Our company was not involved in the original structural design. It was up to the completion of the Ground Floor level that our company was retained by the client to act as the structural consultant. During this period, the project experienced suspension of construction works several times for various reasons. A lot of changes in the general layout of the building plans took place since we take up the role as the structural consultant. Initially, the structure is a shear wall type structure sitting on a 2.5m deep transfer layer, which is then supported in turn by a column-beam podium structure. The entire structure is now changed to a very simple corewall together with ductile moment resisting frame system. The building commenced its operation on April, 1994. |
