| The proposed redevelopment
involves the construction of a transport terminus, a
government indoor-recreation centre, 3 levels of
commercial podium, carpark, residential recreation
facilities, 12 blocks of domestic building each towering
40 storeys, hanging linking bridges, dome features and
space frame. Part of the comprehensive development also
include the construction and decking of a 26m x 360 m
nullah across the site and the provision for the proposed
route 5 structure leading from Castle Peak Road and
across the site. Other associated areas include the
reconstruction of a footbridge across Castle Peak Road,
the erection of an elevated walkway leading to the MTR
station, and a 10m tall noise barrier along the MTR track
near the site. Besides the technical capabilities, Wong Pak Lam & Associaties exercised its highly efficient project management skills to enable the smooth progress of the time-essence project which involved a daily interest of over HK$1m and a complex network of multi-disciplinary government departments, consultants, contractors and specialists. The total site area and GFA of the development amount to 32,400m² & 275,000m² respectively. The development was completed at end-1997. |
